CARVED IVORY ROYAL CEREMONIAL BARGE. 19th century, possibly India. This beautifully carved example modeled with the figurehead of a peacock. Additionally mounted with a roofed pavilion powered by eight rowers, the helmsman standing at the stern which is fashioned in the form of a fantastical elephant. SIZE: 5″ h overall x 12-1/4″ l. CONDITION: With good patina and untouched surfaces. With losses to tiller and paddles and with small repairs and reattachments of elements. Generally good. 9-29856 (400-600)
