FABULOUS EARLY 24″ STEIFF BEAR. A fabulous early Steiff bear (lacking button in ear), in remarkable original condition. Consigned by a general line antique dealer this bear had remained with the original family who purchased the bear in the early part of the 20th century for upwards of 60+ years. Tremendous appeal and virtually absolutely minimal fur loss to this large bruin. Felt pads are largely intact with a few small moth holes only to bears left paw. Bear overall in very strong condition showing no sign of dry rot and/or slumping due to excelsior drying out causing weak legs, arms and chest areas. It does not appear as though the bear has ever been cleaned as there is the typical matting of fur on rear of body and that certain smell that unadulterated bear attain. Apricot coloring with slight overall color loss due to exposure. Not offensive or distracting from this fellow. SIZE: 24″ t. CONDITION: As described above with absolute minimal fur loss (hardly noticeable) on bears left nostril and left eye. Overall an opinion would be 9 on a scale of 1-10 for appeal and condition? 1-13340 (4,000-6,000)
