LOT OF 2 WILKINS HORSE DRAWN FIRE WAGONS. A fine early pair of large and elaborate Wilkins fire toys. The first has a three horse hitch with an elaborate steam pumper rear end enameled in red with black pinstriping to wheels and a copper colored boiler. The second toy is a large 3-horse hook and ladder enameled in white with yellow wheels and black pinstriping. Toy originally had four axes as accessories, two of which are still present. Both toys feature ex-centric wheels under the horses, and by means of a wire connected to the wheel and the horse allow the horses to move in a galloping motion. A wonderful pair of matched toys coming directly from a Maine attic and donated to Goodwill Industries of Northern New England with all proceeds benefiting the organization. Both toys have a fair amount of attic dust/dirt and a good cleaning would bring out the hidden luster beneath. Normally, the fine chain from the horses to the whiffle tree are long missing, but in this case, a substantial amount of original chain is still present. Pumper lacking a rear figure. Ladder wagon lacking rear figure and butterflies to hold ladders in place. Seven original ladders are included, some with damage or loss. SIZE: 21″ l and 30″ l., respectively. CONDITION: Overall good to very good original condition with no apparent damage or repairs. 1-12532 (800-1,200) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2012 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
