A LARGE HORSE-DRAWN FALLOWS FIRE PUMPER. The toy captures the essence of a Currier & Ives print of a fire pumper racing to the fire. The pumper itself is pulled by two “Dexter” horses and the elaborate pumper itself has a fireman astride the front and a fireman standing behind the boiler. Stenciled “Jupiter” and with a decal on either side of the boiler to further add to the charm of this toy. Fallows fire pumpers tended to be a bit more complicated and elaborate than other toy manufacturers. Of all the toy manufacturers, Fallows created the largest in scale pumper. Although the toy has an older total restoration, it still is quite appealing as well as desirable! SIZE: 22-1/2″. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus restored condition, a flywheel has some damage/missing piece. 1-10120 (5,000-10,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
