KINGSBURY FIRE STATION WITH LADDER TRUCK AND MCLOUGHLIN FIRE ENGINE PUZZLE. Kingsbury ladder wagon bell ringer (ladders have old amateur repair) contained within a clockwork tin firestation. An amusing toy for a young child. When the clockwork mechanism has been wound, bells will ring, and the front doors will pop out and the ladder wagon will rush out on its way to the house that is ablaze. Once arriving there, the front bumper will make contact and the spring tension ladder will pop up to rescue people on the second and third floors of the burning house. Kingsbury in the earlier part of the 20th Century co-produced toys with Wilkins and later became the exclusive manufacturer of these toys. Often times it is difficult to distinguish what is Wilkins and what is Kingsbury. Most notably, the difference appears in construction methods and wheels. Over the years there were constant improvements to the earlier clockwork/wind up mechanism and Kingsbury toys were a reliable and durable toy. The firehouse itself is most realistic and is made of pressed steel and is a simulated block building. Included in this lot is a McLoughlin Fire Pumper picture puzzle contained within its original box. Puzzle appears to be in excellent condition, however, completeness is not guaranteed. SIZE: Firehouse 19-1/2″, fire engine 18-3/4″. Puzzle box is approximately 12″ x 9″.
