EMILE A. GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) “WINTER MOONLIGHT GLOUCESTER HARBOR”. Outstanding large oil on canvas moonlit harbor scene shows a number of lobster boats and fishing trawlers in winter. Some snow is seen on docks and roofs and the moonlight reflects on the harbor through a colorful sky. Housed in a very nice carved and gilt wide replacement frame. With gilt artist plaque. Title, artist and date “1933” on back of canvas. A nice example of Gruppe’s early work. SIZE: 30″ x 36″. CONDITION: Very minor touch-up. Very good condition. 9-94166 (15,000-25,000)
