THEODORE VICTOR CARL VALENKAMPF (American, 1868-1924) FITTING OUT ON THE RAILS, GLOUCESTER. Oil on wood panel detailed scene shows two side by side schooners being refitted in dry dock on long wood rails. A factory is seen on right side, boathouse is seen with flag flying and a three-mast tall ship is moored off land. A small raft is moored to large dock with winch tower. All under a pink, white and blue sky. We are told that this is a section of Gloucester Harbor. Signed lower right “T Valenkampf”. Housed in a fine gesso decorated gilt modern frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 9-1/4″ x 17″. CONDITION: Minor inpainting, very good. 9-93971 (4,000-6,000)
