HORSE DRAWN LADDER WAGON ATTRIBUTED TO FALLOWS. Typical of Fallows, the embossed tin sides add to the charm of this toy. Wooden ladders are encased between exterior side rails and seat supports. Toy is drawn by two horses (mismatched), as this toy is pulled along the carpet front wheel assembly causes ringing of bell. It is unusual to find ladder wagons, possibly they were not as attractive or desirable to children as fire pumpers? A similar example is pictured on page 231 of the book American Antique Toys by Bernard Barenholtz. SIZE: 19″. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Rear fireman may be a replacement. Front end with original and replica parts. 1-10031 (3,500-5,500)
