CHARLES PAUL GRUPPE (American, 1860-1940) GLOUCESTER HARBOR. Outstanding oil on canvasboard scene shows a lineup of a green, blue and green hulled fishing schooners alongside a working dock. Several buildings are seen in the inner harbor. A couple of small boats are seen to the right in a harbor water that reflects the boats. All under a bluish light gray sky. Signed lower right. Housed in a magnificent gilt gesso decorated floral motif frame. A truly spectacular example of the patriarch of the Gruppe family and the finest work from this artist that we have ever seen. Nice strong bright pallet. SIZE: 12″ x 16″. CONDITION: Excellent with one small inpainted spot in sky. 9-94573 (8,000-12,000)
