LOT OF 3 ASSORTED CAST IRON HORSE DRAWN FIRE TOYS. Lot includes Ives hose reel, circa 1890s, which is complete except for driver. A wonderfully stylized toy with elaborate sunburst hose reel. Small break in casting on right side below hose reel. Typical front end with a balancing horse that would gallop by means of a wire connected to the ex-centric wheel and horse. Second toy is a Pratt & Letchworth pumper complete with both figures. An elaborate front end arrangement where the horses sit on pins and gallop as toy is pulled across the floor. Third toy is a P&L hook & ladder, an early version with an iron apparatus basket located directly behind driver. This earlier version featured a tin ex-centric wheel under the horses and a wire connected that would make it look like the horse was galloping. All three toys are directly from a New England estate and are fresh to the market. All are in as-found, untouched condition. SIZE: 14-1/2″ l, 17″ l, and 23-1/2″ l., respectively. CONDITION: Ives hose reel is overall very good with some paint loss to white horse and red wheels and yoke. P&L pumper is overall complete with no apparent breaks or damage. P&L hook & ladder appears to be intact and complete. Two rear rivets are somewhat loose securing frame to under carriage. Driver lacking helmet. 1-12536 (600-800) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2012 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
