CLOCKWORK ALTHOF BERGMANN PATRIOTIC BELL TOY. One of a few known surviving examples, the visual appeal of this parade toy is outstanding. Mechanism and clockwork housing is the same as the Bergmann and George Brown “Boy on the Tricycle”. Another classic example of a marriage of multiple parts such as a common bell pull toy, a somewhat standard figure, clockwork housing and trademark heart shaped cast iron wheels. Referred to in the catalog cut as Patent Chimes Bell Toy. Rifles have been added to two front figures and flag holder to the detachable rear figure. Front bell toy/wheel assembly is adjustable allowing the toy to run in circles or a straight line. SIZE: 10″ h. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Toy appears to be all original with exception of paint which is restored. 1-10189 (4,500-8,500)
