EARLY RABERY & DELPHIEU BEBE. Head is incised “R4D”, closely resembles the earlier Gaultier bebes. It is actually unusual to find a doll of this mold in such a large size. She has lovely brown paperweight eyes with almond shaped eye cuts, has a full soft mouth with pronounced dimple in chin with well painted lashes and feathered eyebrows. She is on her original French wood and composition straight wrist body with eight separate ball joints and although unmarked it has a unique shape to the hands that is found solely on this particular doll. Costume consists of an antique cotton and silk dress with intricate lace interwoven into the pattern. Shoes are antique although were probably original children’s leather shoes. Wig is a replacement auburn human hair wig, however matches the color of the eyebrows nicely. SIZE: 26″ (66cm). CONDITION: Very good; typical paint wear especially at fingertips and joints; inherent minor firing flaw where nose meets upper lip. 1-11623 (2,500-3,500)
