GEORGE WASHINGTON MARTHA CHASE DOLL WITH CHASE FAMILY PROVENANCE. The Chase Doll Company was known for manufacturing hospital dolls as well as children’s play dolls. They manufactured a prolific amount of dolls including some of the rarest, most sought after dolls today such as the Alice in Wonderland set, the black mammy, black youth, the Dickens series, etc. This particular doll is George Washington in formal attire and his tri-corner hat. Passed down three generations to the former and last president of the Chase Doll Company, the provenance and history of this doll are given in a notarized letter by Thomas B. Chase. A true rarity, not only in condition and the historical significance, but the fact that this doll remained in the manufacturer’s family for over 80 years. Doll comes with an original Chase box. SIZE: 25″ l. CONDITION: Overall excellent plus condition. There is some crazing and minor paint loss to doll’s white hair. 1-9803 (3,000-5,000)
