WALTHAM GOTHIC REVIVAL TALL CASE CLOCK. First quarter 20th century, Massachusetts. The mahogany case with cove-molded Gothic arch above the conforming glass door. The clock with nine tube chime movement. The eight day brass movement striking on chimes and with three tune musical movement, playing Oxford, Withington and Westminster. The filigree decorated brass dial with Arabic chapter ring beneath a moon phase dial and with “WALTHAM CLOCK CO.” engraved in a plaque above the 6. The case with two engaged triple column pilasters, the case sides with glass panels on a wide plinth base with supressed ball feet. Note: The following are to be found in “LONGCASE CLOCKS AND STANDING REGULATORS, PART 1″ by Tran Duy Ly: 1) The nine tube movement, model #50 on page 43. 2) The brass silvered dial, model #1018 on page 441. 3) The Gothic revival case, a variation on Waltham’s regulator case model #1601 on page 447; and model #1062 on page 457. Clock is offered with nine tubes, three weights, and winder. SIZE: 7’4-1/2″ h x 24″ w x 16-1/2” d. CONDITION: Clock retains all original surfaces. Clock was operational in the consignor’s home.
