LAMINATED HALF HULL MODEL OF THE WHALING SHIP ABRAHAM H. HOWLAND. Late 19th early 20th century. This nice architect’s model with six lifts in pine mounted on a pine backboard. The backboard affixed with an identification plaque “A H 414”. Written on the plaque beneath keel “Whale Ship Abm. H. HOWLAND. Built at NEW BEDFORD 1845-414T”. Note: The whaling ship Abraham H. Howland, built 1845, lost off Honolulu 1852. Named after the first mayor of New Bedford, Massachusetts. SIZE: 9-1/4″ h x 41″ l x 4-3/4″ d.
