HALF MODEL OF BRIG. POWHATAN BUILT IN NEWBURYPORT, MASSACHUSETTS. Circa 1829-1830. This eight lift model of mahogany, maple and pine mounted on a walnut board with natural finish overall. The ship’s side painted black above the waterline. At the stern of the ship by the rudder is a small contrasting rectangle within which are written the overall dimensions of the ship. SIZE: 9″ h x 39″ l x 4-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Very good original condition with some craquelure on mounting board. Otherwise with very nice patina. 9-22071 (1,750-2,000)
