EXCEEDINGLY RARE 19″ CHARACTER JUMEAU BEBE MOLD #211. Jumeau produced a series of character dolls known as the 200 Series. These particular dolls ranged from subtle expression to the other extreme of surprise and/or upset. Most likely these dolls were generally not meant for young ladies, but rather for display or store presentation purposes. Various 200 Series heads were also used on automaton by the famed Lambert firm of Paris. This particular example is on a marked Jumeau body and is also known as “The Screamer”. Pale bisque with squinting glass eyes and an open mouth in a screaming style with large exposed tongue and molded upper teeth. This is truly an exceedingly rare, unique and highly sought after doll. Often times these 200 Series dolls have damage, yet one can not be so finicky and must at times except one of these rarities with damage. However, in this case, the bisque head is without damage and in exceptional condition with regards to coloring, facial detail and expression and no flaws to the bisque!! Doll has a braided light brown mohair wig with cork pate and a floral cotton print Jumeau dress and wearing antique French leather shoes and socks. SIZE: 19″ t. CONDITION: Bisque head is of great quality and appears to be without flaws. Marked Jumeau body overall in very fine condition with normal wear to fingers and joints. 1-9620 (40,000-60,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
