UNSIGNED (American, 18th Century) PORTRAIT OF EDWIN SY OF TRENTON, NEW JERSEY. Outstanding oil on canvas half portrait shows a young man with green and gold edge coat, white shirt and collar. He has curled grayish hair. The portrait surrounded by a painted oval porthole with brown edges. Housed in a replacement gilt and decorated frame. Purchased in 1964 from Dana Tillou of the Tillou Gallery who purchased it in the spring of 1960 at the Colosseum Show. Thought to be a New York artist. The information provided above was in a letter from Dana Tillou provided to our consignor. SIZE: 27″ x 21″. PROVENANCE: Collection of Elwyn Dearborn, Medford, NJ; Portland, ME.
