LARGE BEBE MOTHEREAU. Impressive and rarely found French bisque bebe with head incised “B.M.” with closed mouth having white space between the lips, deep dimple in chin with slight roll of fat at the neckline, bulgy blue paperweight eyes, unusually modeled upper eyelids, nicely painted lashes and brows and pierced ears. Cheek color is even with nice contrast between cheeks and the rest of the face. She is on her original body with straight wrists jointed at elbows, shoulders, hips and knees. Costume is robins egg blue pleated cotton with ecru lace trim. The shoes are antique brown leather and are stamped on the soles “13 A La Tentation 22.23.25 Passage Vendome Paris Depose” (somewhat worn). She wears a replacement honey blond wig over cork pate and has a strawberry silk bonnet with braid trim. SIZE: 33″ (84cm). CONDITION: Bisque head is excellent with slight darkening mold lines; body shows old light repaint overall. 1-11891 (17,500-22,500)
