MARGARET BOURKE-WHITE (American, 1904-1971) LOOKING AHEAD. Unmounted vintage photograph, circa 1936, shows a chest high view of a young man wearing a hat against a barn board background. Back having a black “A Margaret Bourke-White Photograph” stamp. Also pencil inscribed “306”. At this time Margaret was in Georgia with Erskine Caldwell gathering photographs for their book “You Have Seen Their Faces”. This family grouping in a slightly different pose was used as the front cover of this book. We have been unable to find another image of this photograph published. SIZE: Photograph: 9-3/4″ x 7-1/2″. PROVENANCE: Erskine Caldwell’s wife (Mt. Vernon, Maine); to our consignor’s father through descent. CONDITION: Very good. 9-99882 (2,000-3,000)
