RARE SFBJ POULBOT CHARACTER CHILD. In the earlier part of the 20th Century, SFBJ did a lifelike portrayal of the poor orphans that wandered the streets of Paris, and hence the Poulbot doll was created. Normally these dolls were dressed in outfits that are somewhat disheveled and rag-like and not like the bebe type dresses normally found on Jumeaus and other fine French dolls. However, this example comes sans clothing. Doll features blue paperweight eyes and fine quality bisque. Rear of head is marked “SFBJ” and is on a jointed composition body (lower legs incorrect). Though these dolls were reproduced in later years (1950s-60), this is one of the earlier original examples. SIZE: 14″ h. CONDITION: Bisque is near excellent with a minuscule chip at base of neck. Overall finish is very nice. 1-9640 (1,500-2,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
