MARGARET BOURKE-WHITE (American, 1904-1971) INTERIOR FAMILY VIEW. Vintage, unmounted, black border photograph, circa 1936, shows a man, woman and infant seated in the corner of a room with make-do table and hanging pictures. Reverse with black “A Margaret Bourke-White Photograph” stamp. Also inscribed “25”. Also “75%…E.C. (Erskine Caldwell?) Possible”. At this time Margaret was in Georgia with Erskine Caldwell gathering photographs for their book “You Have Seen Their Faces”. This family grouping in a slightly different pose was used as the front cover of this book. We have been unable to find another image of this photograph published. SIZE: Photograph: 10-1/4″ x 13-1/2″. PROVENANCE: Erskine Caldwell’s wife (Mt. Vernon, Maine); to our consignor’s father through descent. CONDITION: Two vertical creases on left side, otherwise very good. 9-99875 (3,000-5,000)
