EARLIEST PERIOD BRU TETEUR. Also known as the “Nursing Bru” the doll has an open mouth with space to allow a baby bottle to enter. She has lovely brown paperweight eyes and has a separate bisque shoulder plate on a gusseted leather child body with bisque forearms. The mechanism inside the head to allow the baby to nurse is rubber and has hardened with age and is no longer operable. She has the remnants of an original sheepskin wig over cork pate and long cotton baby dress; could very well be original however is deteriorating. Tied to her left arm is an antique glass baby bottle with ivory colored pacifier. SIZE: 17″ (43cm). CONDITION: Head has old restoration; a piece previously broken and glued is now obvious. There is also restoration to all fingers on left hand and some restoration on the right hand as well. 1-11894 (1,500-2,500)
