TWO IVORY FIGURAL GROUPS. Japan, 19th Century. The first a walrus ivory carving of a monkey trainer with a child together with a hardwood stand. The second, an ivory carving of a man attempting to hold onto “Kinko Sennin” and his magical carpet. Signed at rear of figure. SIZE: Monkey trainer 7-3/4″h; magic carpet 7″h. CONDITION: The first very good, the second with old shrinkage crack on torso and old repair to figure’s left ankle, otherwise good. Both with good color and mellow patina. 9-23650, 9-23703 (300-500)
