17-1/2″ MECHANICAL KICKING/CRYING STEINER BEBE. A fine early Steiner Bebe with pale bisque, upper and lower teeth and blue threaded paperweight eyes. A clockwork mechanism is concealed within the body and activated by a lever on her left side. When wound and activated, the child could hold the doll by the waist and the doll would seemingly walk along the ground while raising and lowering her arms, head turning from left to right and the bellows making a crying noise (Mama/Papa). Doll appears to be in her original outfit with her original blond mohair wig and antique leather shoes. On tummy of doll is an original paper store label. The overall condition of the body is very fine. Kid is bright with a couple of minor splits where joins hip. Composition arms have great original finish, however missing a couple of fingers on left hand. CONDITION: Overall excellent. Doll’s right arm is slightly loose and in need of minor adjustment for it to be activated in an upwards/downwards motion. Legs currently have no motion. 1-9627 (1,000-2,000)
