ATTRIBUTED TO SCOTT LEIGHTON (American, 1849-1898) PORTRAIT OF A STALLION IN FRONT OF THE PROMENADE, PORTLAND, MAINE. Unframed oil on canvas scene shows a brown stallion near water trough in pasture having large fence. Under the horses head is seen a view looking over Casco Bay to South Portland with the steeple of St. John’s Church showing. Attached to back is a clipped article relating to Scott Leighton. SIZE: 21″h x 27″w. PROVENANCE: From and old Southern Maine Collection. CONDITION: Relined, inpainting mostly to upper sky. Very good. 9-94119 (2,000-4,000)
