PAIR OF B.C.M. WELLS VEHICLES. These toys of English manufacture from the 1920s-30s. The first is an advertising van for Carter Paterson. Dual opening rear doors and a windup mechanism on the underside. The second vehicle is somewhat more rare is an ambulance and has dual opening rear doors and a windup mechanism on the underside. These toys were made for the English market, and hence don’t tend to show up elsewhere in the world. Not as detailed or finished like a Lehmann or Marklin, but in their own way have a charm all their own. SIZE: Each is 6-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: John F. Gale Collection, Cambridge, MA. CONDITION: First vehicle shows fine alligatoring to lithographed finish and lacking driver. Second vehicle is in very fine original condition.
