KESTNER CHARACTER DOLL WITH INTERCHANGEABLE HEADS. 1910 era ensemble with one complete doll and three additional heads, three being painted eye character faces and the other an open mouth, sleep eyed “dolly face” head. The head on the complete doll is incised “178”; the other painted eye heads are unmarked however the smiling face is the “185” mold and the somber face boy is the “184” mold. The open mouth head has brown glass sleep eyes is incised “Made in Germany 174”. All four heads have their original mohair wigs; the complete doll has the original body with original finish although somewhat discolored. The chemise on the complete doll is factory issued and wears period two tone leather shoes, although the same vintage as the doll, may have been added later. All is contained in the original red box with the paper label bearing the Kestner crown mark and “Charakterpuppe No. 3439”. SIZE: 11″ (28cm).
