BOXED HAND PAINTED AND MOTHER OF PEARL FANCY FAN SIGNED “TIFFANY & CO”. The fan’s loop handle in 14k gold and marked “TIFFANY & CO 14K”. Wonderful mother of pearl end sticks decorated with gold flowers and the front having pierced decoration. Sixteen inner sticks of a third mother of pearl with pierce decoration with colorful gold and silver work. The center having a hand painted scene of two women on a bench in all their finery conversing with a man with tri-corner hat, all in a classical setting. Signed “A. FRAY”. On each side of the hand painted scene is an area of decorated mesh with scrolls and sequins. The fan comes in its original silk covered box with initials “A.G.” also signed on the interior “TIFFANY & CO” and having its original label to base “C.LEVIELE MAKER AND REPAIRER FANS, SHELL AND BRIC-A-BRAC NEW YORK”. SIZE: Closed: 10-1/2″, Open: 18″. Box: 10-1/2″ x 2-1/2″. CONDITION: Mother of pearl very good with no losses, painted scene with split at center and small splits in other panels at scene, otherwise generally very good.
