LARGE HULL & STAFFORD SINGLE HORSE GIG. An unusual and rarely found clockwork American tin toy. The carriage itself has a clockwork mechanism contained within a pyramid shaped enclosure with a rider seated upon the top. Typical of Hull & Stafford, a detachable tin figure with tin pegs for placement on vehicle. The horse quite similar to an Althof Bergmann horse with minor, yet noticeable, differences. The wire armature attaching the horse to the carriage is quite different than ones employed by Althof Bergmann or George Brown. SIZE: 15″ l. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Toy overall appears to be in untouched, original condition with exception of replacement driver. 1-10139 (4,000-6,000)
