RARE WARREN MCARTHUR DOUBLE BACK SETTEE. Circa 1930-1933. Los Angeles, California. Warren McArthur (American, 1885-1961). the back with two sets of three brushed slats joined to three tubular stiles in green enamel joined to flattened armrests, each above three decorative conforming stretchers centering two framed original seat cushions, all within a tubular framework raised on conforming legs, the whole with decorative polished turned discs. Original paper label beneath proper left arm: “WARREN McARTHUR FURNITURE/LOS ANGELES, CALIF./PATENTS PENDING”. Literature: Sarah Nicholes, ed., Aluminum by Design, exh. cat., Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, 2000, p.216-217 for similar examples. SIZE: 31-1/2″ h of back. 47-1/2″ w overall. Approximately 25″ e. PROVENANCE: From a fine Augusta, Maine estate. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Seat cushions in need of recovering.
