UNSIGNED (American, Mid-20th Century) THE WINTER LOBSTERMEN OFF MONHEGAN. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows three separate lobster boats with lobstermen pulling traps. Each boat has a canvas tarp front. Seagulls are seen in foreground over a chopped white tipped sea. The cliffs of Monhegan Island are seen with snow patches and the painting depicts the rugged nature of the Maine lobsterman. Housed in what appears to be its original decorated frame. Possibly the work of Andrew Winter. SIZE: 24″ x 40″. CONDITION: Some discolored varnish, very good. 9-94452 (1,000-1,500)
