OUTSTANDING PRIMITIVE DRAWING OF THE STEAMSHIP “SAXON”. The drawing, circa 1875, in pencil, colored pencil, and ink on paper. Signed John Bottier, Seaman. The drawing showing the two-mast central stack black hulled ship sailing right to left with American flag off stern, the ship’s pennant off the front mast. The ship is shown on blue water with two very small boats in the foreground. The bottom with a penned title, also “Boston & Philadelphia Steamship Line”. This company was founded in 1852. The picture is self framed with wonderful red, white, and blue decorated corners and shaded corner areas at top. Housed in a period lemon gold molded wood frame with glass. SIZE: Sight: 21-1/4″ x 27-1/4″. CONDITION: Some light foxing, very good. 9-22911 (2,000-3,000)
