RARE JUMEAU EJA BEBE. Distinctive doll from the 1880s by Jumeau with character-like face, slightly flat chin with dimple, mauve shading on upper eyelids and well painted mouth with illusion of white space between the lips. The quality of the bisque is excellent and has applied pierced ears. Incised on back of head “EJ A 10”. French wood and composition body has eight separate ball joints, straight wrists and is stamped on the torso “Jumeau Medaille D’or Paris”. She has been well re-costumed in a one piece drop waist dress of various shades of blue with a midnight blue velvet sash and trim collar with a well coordinated hat with wire frame. The wig is antique blond mohair over cork pate and the brown leather shoes are stamped on the soles “12 Paris Depose”. SIZE: 25″ (64cm). CONDITION: Overall very good with some slight typical paint wear to body especially at joints and fingertips. Eyes have been reset and are possible replacements. 1-11728 (8,000-10,000)
