FRENCH POLICHINELLE. Classic French character figure with papier mache head with big chin and nose, molded and painted features, on horse hair stuffed body with protruding hump on back and in front of chest also made of papier mache. He is traditionally dressed in alternating panels of color with blue and white fringe dangling from sleeves, ankles, waist, neck and hat. There are bells on both sides of the hat. As is typical, there is a string dangling from his hat and when pulled his arms move up and down in a puppet like form. SIZE: 18″ (46cm) to top of hat. CONDITION: Very good with probable slight retouch to facial features. 1-11596 (800-1,200)
