FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A BLACK HULL SHIP PASSING MINOTS LIGHT. Mid 19th Century. The two-board sea chest top having a large three-mast schooner painted sailing left to right in wavy green ocean. Minot’s Light is seen with sand dune background and is identified in pencil above. The ship is seen in full white sail, the bow with eagle figurehead. There is pencil inscription to the right of the boat, presumably identifying but difficult to read. On reverse in pencil “Repaired by Barbara L. Locke for the Mistress of “The little white house””. SIZE: 24-3/4″ x 33-3/4″. CONDITION: Restoration to one sail area, surface dirt, generally good. 9-22915 (1,000-2,000)
