FINE ASTON SPRING BAYONET BLUNDERBUS. NSN. 70 Cal. 14-1/4” part oct brass bbl. Marked “Aston.” on the lockplate, “MANCHESTER” on the top flat of the bbl. Large Birmingham proof marks on the left quarter flat. The walnut stock is checkered at the wrist and has brass mountings. The ramrod has a bone tip with an iron worm at the other end. The lightly engraved lock has a safety at the rear of the hammer. CONDITION: Fine. Traces of the casehardening pattern on the lockplate, but no color. Brass parts have a dark patina. Stock has minor dents and scratches and the checkering is sharp. Tip of the ramrod is loose. Mechanically fine. Wm. Hancock Collection 4-58571 FS672 (3,000-5,000)
