LOT OF TWO NON-FACTORY MADE SINGLE SHOT PISTOLS. 1) Made from a Remington 36 Cal. Navy large frame revolver. Cal. 38 CF. SN 16857. Blued finish, 7-3/8” oct bbl, crude homemade wood grips, tip up bbl with locking mechanism, re-cut firing pin hammer, brass triggerguard. This is a crudely made pistol. It is interesting that some backyard gunsmith took the time to make a single shot pistol out of a 6-shot revolver. CONDITION: Fair. Brown patina overall. Grips are battered. 2) Made from a Remington New Model Army revolver. Cal. 45. SN 104925. Blued finish, 9-7/8” oct bbl with blade front sight, bbl marked “PAT. APL’D FOR” on the left side. It has cartridge extractor, frame has opening lever, hammer is a modified Remington firing pin, 2-pc smooth walnut grips with military cartouche, & brass triggerguard. This single shot pistol was perhaps made up by a gunsmith using parts from a New Model Army. CONDITION: Fair. Traces of orig blue on frame. Gray patina on new assemblage. Grips are worn smooth at the bottom. Bore has been drilled out and has moderate pitting. 4-59406 JH98 (600-1,000)
