*SMITH & WESSON PRE-MODEL 27 2-BBL SET. Cal. 357 Mag. SN S105963. Very unusual piece, 5-screw frame with 3-1/2” bbl, ramp front sight, adjustable rear sight, target trigger & hammer with diamond checkered medallion magna grips. Accompanied by a second bbl that is 8-3/8” long that is numbered to the revolver. Also accompanies is a Smith & Wesson letter identifying this revolver and indicating that it was shipped March 2, 1954 to Abercrombie & Fitch Co., New York City, NY with a 3-1/2” bbl. Mr. Jinks states that the extra bbl would have been an addition by the service department after the revolver was shipped. He further states that it is very unusual to have both bbls still together. Also included is a reproduced article titled “The Evolution of the .357 Magnum” by Jess Lucio, Jr. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. All matching including both bbls and grips. Retains 98-99% strong bright original factory finish to both revolver & grips with a light cylinder line. Has been fired but very little. 8” bbl does not appear to have ever been installed. Grips are crisp with a small bruise on the right side and light diamond point wear. Crisp mechanics, bright shiny bore. 4-51838 JR520 (1,000-1,500)
