BAREND CORNELIS KOEKOEK (Dutch, 1803-1862) MEETING THE TRAVELER. Oil on cradled wood panel scene shows a traveler with his dog walking on a dirt road coming upon a man leading a horse driven two wheel cart. All seen under two large trees which frame a large church. In the distance a windmill is seen on bluff of land overlooking water. Signed lower left on a rock “BC Koekoek ft 1840”. Housed in a wide gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 12-1/2” x 15-1/2”. CONDITION: Horizontal inpainted lines which corresponds to old cracks in the panel. Good to very good. 9-70770 (8,000-12,000)
