BENONI IRWIN (American, 1840-1896) PORTRAIT OF A CHILD IN BLUE. Oil on canvas portrait shows a young child seated on an upholstered stool with colorful throw wearing a blue dress with lace collar and sleeves, blue tights and black shoes. An apple is held in both hands on lap and books are seen stacked on the right hand corner. Gold to brown background. Signed upper right and dated 1880. Housed in what appears to be its original gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 41-1/2” x 29-1/4”. CONDITION: Canvas is loose with some wrinkling on the right side.
