GOTHIC REVIVAL CARVED CORNER CHAIR. Late 19th century, continental. The foliate carved crest centering a female bust continuing to foliate carved curved arms, terminating in molded hand rests carved with flower heads, joined to acanthus carved turned supports alternating with pierced carved splats in the form of opposing griffins, centering a square frame fitted with slip seat cushion. Rails carved with scrolling leaf tips raised on columnar carved and turned legs headed by floral rosettes. SIZE: 33″ h of back. 27-1/2″ w overall. CONDITION: Carving remains crisp, chair with ebonized wash, generally very good. 9-27566 (400-600)
