SHERATON GILTWOOD MIRROR. First quarter 19th Century. The rectangular frame with engaged baluster turned half columns, the corners blocked with applied rosettes centering a rectangular mirror plate beneath the frieze amounted with a panel with ropetwist molding applied with a carved basket of fruit. All with original, gilded washed surfaces. SIZE: 38″ x 18″ PROVENANCE: The upper panel with pencil inscription: “my father bought in 1830 in Bath (Maine) of Mr.Haley who bought before 1800/it was originally bought before 1800”. Also in pencil inscription: “regilded and new glass 1897”. CONDITION: Structurally in very fine condition with minor and minimal losses to rosettes. Re-gilded with new plate as noted in provenance. Gilded surfaces subsequently cleaned. 9-94459 (500-750)
