UNSIGNED (American, First half of the 20th Century) PORTRAIT OF A SOCIALITE. Large oil on canvas portrait of a well dressed woman seated in a French sofa. She wears a tiara and a yellow and lace evening gown accented by a fur edged robe. Housed in a rose decorated period gilt gesso frame, which has been altered to fit the painting. There is an old Madison Avenue, New York partial label to reverse. PROVENANCE: Kyle Family Estate of Bar Harbor, Maine and New York to our consignor. SIZE: 44” x 32-1/2”. CONDITION: One patch to reverse, 2” area or wrist needs repair. Some thin spots of paint in face, otherwise fair to good. 9-29046 (500-1000)
