TWO EARLY AMERICAN DOUGH BOXES. 19th century, New England. The first example with rectangular single-board top opening fitted to a storage section with canted front and back, the sides with boot jack ends. The second a rectangular open box or trough, fitted to a central conforming stand raised on square legs and all in salmon paint. SIZE: 1) 38-1/2″h x 42″l x 17″d; 2) 26″h x 40″l x 18-1/3″w. CONDITION: The first with clean, worn surfaces. Structurally good with normal wear from age and usage. The second, a primitive example, retains old if not original red/salmon paint with weathered and worn surfaces; good overall. 9-23820 (400-600)
