HUNTER A. WOOD (American, 1908-) AFTERNOON SAIL. Gouache on paper marine scene shows a three-mast ship sailing left to right in full sail. There are several people on deck. A United States flag flies off back mast and another flag flies atop the middle mast. Sun is hidden behind partial clouds. Signed lower right “H A Wood”. Pencil inscription on back cardboard indicates the ship was launched in 1873 and was part of the Aberdeen White Star Fleet. Housed in a fine modern black step molded frame with double matte. SIGHT SIZE: 10″ x 14-1/4″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-28942 (500-800)
