MEISSEN FIGURAL STEM VASE. Third quarter 19th century through first quarter 20th century. German. Depicting a boy with a baby Pomeranian seated against a tree while the dog’s mother rears up next to the boy. Tree trunk forming the body of the vase. Incised “183”. Impressed mark “70”. Painted mark in black “56”. With crossed swords in underglaze blue. SIZE: 7-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: With small chips to ivy leaves on trunk.
