AMERICAN NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER. First quarter 19th century. The sampler woven with a series of verses within a floral border centering a brick home flanked by floral filled urns and birds behind a fenced in garden. At the bottom is written, “Mary Ann Wilds, her work done in the 9th year of her age”. Housed in a contemporary frame. SIZE: Sight: 16-1/2″ x 17-1/2″. CONDITION: The sampler with excessive losses to foundation, left upper corner facing. Iron brown verse largely deteriorated. Generally poor to fair condition. 9-27521 (250-350)
