THOMAS FRANCIS WAINEWRIGHT (British, 1794-1883) BUSY PORT. Fine watercolor scene shows a port with several ships both small and large with buildings beyond and a hillside dotted with houses topped by a church. In the foreground are eight cows, some in shallow water, others grazing on a sloping grass bank. A sailboat has been pulled up at edge of shore and a man is on the stern. All under a colorful sky. Signed lower right “T F Wainewright” and dated indistinctly. Housed in a gesso decorated flat frame with wide white matte. SIZE: 6″ x 9-1/4″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-97286 (800-1,200)
