REGENCY BRASS INLAID WRITING DESK ON STAND. First quarter 19th century. The rectangular box with hinged lid opening to a leather lined writing surface additionally fitted with compartments for inkwells and pen tray, the box with end drawer mounted with a campaign style brass handle. The box overall fitted with inset corners. The escutcheon in the form of an inset cartouche now mounted on a later table stand of square tapered legs with a X-form stretcher. SIZE: Writing desk 6-1/4″ x 18-1/2″ x 9-1/2″. Overall 24″ h. CONDITION: The writing desk professionally restored and repolished. Shrinkage cracks stabilized and repolished, repair to front at lock plate. Otherwise very good. 9-99932 (300-500)
